PK-C Spectro-Cooler: An Ecto Cooler Copycat Recipe

Let’s be honest: somewhere in every ghost hunter’s heart is a cold, glowing glass of Ecto Cooler. That radioactive-green citrus punch was the unofficial fuel for a whole generation of kids who wanted to believe, and then, like so many great things from the ’80s, it was discontinued and became frustratingly hard to find. (Yes, there was a brief revival a while back. Blink, and you missed it.)
So we did what any fan-built, community-minded crew would do: we built our own. Meet the “PK-C Spectro-Cooler” – our homemade copycat tribute to that legendary green slime-in-a-cup. It’s nostalgic, it’s a little weird in the best way, and it’s family-friendly enough to pour at your next movie night.
Ingredients
- Orange juice — 1 cup. The primary citrus flavor and the backbone of the whole thing.
- Tang orange powder — 1 tablespoon. Boosts the orange and adds a serious hit of nostalgia.
- Country Time lemonade powder — 2 tablespoons. Lemonade flavor without watering things down.
- Tangerine flavored water enhancer — a squirt. That distinct tangerine note that makes it taste “right.”
- Sugar — optional, to taste. The powders are already sweet, so add only if you want it.
- Green food coloring — 3–4 drops. For that unmistakable ectoplasmic glow.
- Water — 2 cups. Mixes the powders and dials the intensity to just right.
Instructions
- Prepare the base. In a large pitcher, mix the orange juice with 2 cups of water.
- Add the powders. Stir in the Tang orange powder and Country Time lemonade powder until completely dissolved.
- Bring the tangerine. Add a squirt of the tangerine water enhancer, adjusting the amount to your taste.
- Adjust sweetness. Taste first — the powders carry a lot of sugar already — then add more only if you need it.
- Add the glow. Drop in the green food coloring a little at a time until you hit that classic Ecto green.
- Chill. Refrigerate until it’s ice-cold.
- Serve. Pour over ice and enjoy.
Taste as you go and tweak the quantities to suit your crew — especially the sweetness and how intense you want the citrus. Make a big batch, drop in a few gummy worms if you’re feeling theatrical, and you’ve got a nostalgia-packed drink that’d make any proton-pack-toting kid grin. Who you gonna call? Probably everyone, once they get a taste.
